We are charismatic because we’ve all been baptized with the Spirit and he has bestowed spiritual gifts as he wills (1 Cor 12:11, 13).
Indeed, TC, but if we don’t exercise the gifts that have been bestowed on us do we really merit the name, or please the Giver?
Well, the exercising of spiritual gifts has engendered not a few debates. Skepticism is at the heart of the debates on one side.
Indeed, TC. But I would not want to condemn those who choose not to exercise the gifts, but I would not call them “charismatic” either, even if they sing Matt Redman or even angelic choruses.
jeez, mer, and mo, peter, you’re tough!
TC – he has bestowed gifts upon us as as he wills, agreed 100%.
But do we only use them as we “will”?
Does the look of our sunday morning pattern of worship promote or prevent the exercising of spiritual gifts?
I know plenty of people who seem to be able to alternate the words “modern” and “charismatic” without relating anything to the work of the holy spirit, but merely the style of worship presented.
