Ruth Gledhill reports an amazing statement by Bishop Graham Dow of Carlisle, at a meeting in connection with the Church of England’s General Synod. The bishop reportedly said:
I happen to believe that our Government is moving into the realm of imposing its morality and it has therefore become a Revelation 13 Government rather than a Romans 13 Government. In the view of the Book of Revelation, the Roman Empire had become a demonic beast and was imposing its morality.
When asked for clarification by Riazat Butt, the Muslim woman who is the new religious affairs correspondent of The Guardian newspaper, Bishop Dow expressed his surprise that press correspondents were present. But they had been invited. It seems that Rowan Williams is not the only bishop who needs some elementary lessons on handling the media.
But what of the bishop’s suggestion? We mustn’t forget that when Paul wrote Romans 13 the Roman empire was already much more repressive than any modern western democracy and strongly imposed its morality and religious practices on the whole empire. Our British government is in some ways moving in a bad direction, but it has a long way to go before it matches Romans 13, let alone Revelation 13. It is surely not helpful in a situation like this to throw around words like “demonic”, even in meetings which are thought to be private.
Lest you forget, Peter, the House of Commons motion #666 calling for the disestablishment of the Church of England. Perhaps you’re closer than you think…

Well, ElShaddai, I would consider the possible disestablishment of the Church of England (but I presume motion #666 failed) to be a move away from Revelation 13, which is (very likely) talking about the alliance between the state and religion, i.e. the sort of thing Rowan Williams was arguing for.
As for Obama, I’m sure he’s not the Messiah despite the hype, but he looks like a good Christian man who will make a good President for you, and for the world.
The Ruth Gledhill post I linked to has now mysteriously disappeared from her blog, only a few hours after it appeared (although there are still dead links to it in the “Recent Comments” section). Perhaps she or her newspaper were leant on by the C of E authorities, for publishing something a bishop didn’t want published although he said it in a public meeting.
Ruth’s version of this story has now reappeared on her blog, but minus the picture of Riazat Butt wearing a T-shirt with the slogan “Frisk me, I’m a Muslim” – hardly Sharia-compliant dress for a woman. Perhaps it was because of that image that the post disappeared temporarily.

I forgot to mention the fact that the poster I mentioned in my comment above is depicting Babylonian Whoredom. The Tower of Babel penetrating the stars of the Queen of Heaven is Babylonian Whoredom. Through the lying wonders of syncretism the Babylonian Religion has been retained by the Holy See. The Holy See is a Babylonian Whore “Queen of Heaven” playing the Harlot with the E.U.”Tower of Babel”. The people have become drunk on the wine of her fornication.

Bishop Dow has now issued a statement clarifying his remarks – not at all along the lines William has described.
I have made an error and I wish to correct it now. The two horned beast of Revelation chapter 13 is the Holy See and the state of Vatican City. Each is a separate entity with the Pope as the Head of State. The image that the two horned beast causes the people to make is the European Union. The voice of the image (E.U.) is the Parliament or one special individual. The image is represented in the Eikon(image) of the Tower of Babel located in Strasbourg, France which is the parliament seat of the E.U.(image of the first beast)
The whore that sits on the city of seven hills (Rome) is also sitting on a beast with two horns. The POPE, horn 1. is the Holy See and horn 2. is the State of Vatican City. Europa is also sitting on a beast with two horns(Rape of Europa). The EUROPA UNION(E.U.) is the image of Rev.13. So there are two QUEEN/WHORES sitting on beasts with two horns one is the IMAGE of the other.
