Eddie Arthur links to an interview with Christian songwriter and worship leader Matt Redman. This is especially interesting for his second thoughts on writing words like “Jesus, I am so in love with you”.

Any chance you could expand on the contents for my sake since I can’t access the YouTube video?
Thanks for posting this, Peter. It was good to hear Matt Redman’s thoughts on his “learning process” as a worship leader.
@David: Essentially Mr. Redman said that he was learning that, as a songwriter and worship leader, it was important to keep the cultural context of lyrics and words in mind when composing a song.
He knows what the lyrics to “You are beautiful” or “Let my words be few” mean to him, but acknowledged that the average “blokey bloke” in the pew was uncomfortable or even turned off by the “Jesus is my boyfriend” lyrics.
If I heard correctly, he suggested “I am so in awe of you” as an alternative lyric to “I am so in love with you”.
ElShaddai, thanks for answering this for me. Lingamish, my friend (!), sorry to post things you can’t watch. Maybe someday soon even in Mozambique Youtube will be accessible.
